News and updates

Well, it took me way to long to write this update..
Many things have happened since the last update in November.

As you recall, in our last update the boat arrived to Fort Pierce, FL on a barge, we sent a quote to the insurance, we removed all our remaining stuff (that was not stolen by those that think that all American are rich and their insurance cover everything), and we waited.

Well, the insurance did approve the quote (with some modifications) and we waited to get the boat to the yard to start the work.

And like everything in boating, we waited, and waited, and waited. And we kept paying for storage of the boat on the yard. Ekor Yachts services, that is fixing our boat, did some work in the meantime, they removed all the rigging and stensions and got the boat clean and ready for the yard work.

We also planned to travel to Israel in December for a month plus (trying to avoid the winter in Minnesota as much as we can).
I had to move my travel earlier as my mother was hospitalized and later on passed (while I was there). So now I had to deal with personal tragedy as well as the boat situation and this time remotely.

December cam and passed and the boat was still on the barge. First, second, and third weeks in January came and passed, and finally after many phone calls to the barge company, the yard and Ekor the boat was in the yard on January 23rd.

And the work has started.
Ekor built an enclosure around the boat and started on the fiberglass work.
Today, as I write this blog, the boat is almost ready for a completion of her fiberglass work, and the work on the cockpit cover will follow. We visited the boat last week (drove down to Florida on Monday, and were already back in Minnesota by Friday morning). We where very impressed with the progress and work that Ekor has put in to the boat, very impressed!!

I am still waiting for the insurance payment, that is taking much toooooo long to arrive.
A few weeks ago the insurance sent a first payment, and I am still waiting for the balance of the original claim, as the money is needed for payment on work done, and payment for the mast.

I will add that the insurance appointed a company to handle the claim and this process seems to be delaying a lot the claim process.

Current plans are to splash the boat back into the water in about 8 weeks and 4 weeks later start the sea trials

Stay tuned
